le 24 mai 2011 à 14h, à Agrocampus Ouest (Route de St Brieuc, Amphi Moule), le laboratoire ESE invite John D. Stark (Washington State University) pour une conférence intitulée Matrix population models for risk assessment of chemicals Présentation : Matrix population models are some of the most widely used models by population biologists. They are easy to construct and understand, but are they a good choice for use by ecological risk assessment of chemicals? Here, I discuss the strengths and weaknesses of matrix models as a tool for ecological risk assessment using models developed for a number of organisms exposed to pesticides. Results of this study indicate that matrix models are a good choice for risk assessment of toxicants because multiple effects (lethal and sublethal) can be easily incorporated into these models, they are easy to develop, use, and to understand.
