Scope

The goal of this workshop is to share ideas and experience in order to identify themes for new collaborative projects and be prepared for future calls. Both small and large scale project ideas will be considered (from joint papers and student projects to large multi partner projects). Based on the idea that “water reflects activities, landscape and weather” we want to include different types of agricultural system, landscape and climate, starting from our vision on phosphorus, and enlarging it to major nutrients.

Following topics will be discussed:

  1. Links between soil P and water at the catchment scale (temporal and spatial aspects)
  2. Importance of colloidal P transport through the soil profile for P leaching
  3. Particulate P transformation to dissolved and colloidal P
  4. Influences of weather and climate change on shifts in baseline P concentrations
  5. Soil fertility and conservation links to water quality: finding win/win opportunities
  6. New sensors, high frequency monitoring and proxies

Program

24th Oct, 14.00 – 17.00: PhD thesis defence by Sen Gu “Release of dissolved and colloidal phosphorus from riparian wetlands: a field and laboratory assessment of the mechanisms and controlling factors

25th Oct, 09.00 – 15.30: Field visit in Kervidy-Naizin catchment (http://www6.inra.fr/ore_agrhys_eng/)

25th Oct, 16.00 – 18.30: Workshop (Start)

The housing at Cité Internationale Paul Ricoeur in Rennes (http://cite-internationale.crous-rennes.fr/) and meals during the workshop will be covered by organizers but travel-costs are at the expense of participants.
