Dans le cadre des séminaires ECOBIO, Pavel Saska présente ses travaux vendredi 9 Mars 2018 à 13:00, en salle de conférence de l'OSUR. Titre de la présentation : "Selected chapters from the life history of carabid beetles - parasitoidism, granivory and thermal effects"
Résumé: Carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) are one of the dominant and most diverse epigeal groups of arthropods in arable fields and adjacent habitats, where they provide important ecosystem services, including pest regulation and weed seed predation. The presentation will focus on selected aspects of carabid life study that was studied by the presented during the past 20 years. The topic will include: (i) parasitoid life history strategy in the genus Brachinus. The bombardier beetles, are one of the few representatives in Carabidae which develop as parasitoids in the larval stage. The dry-land species develop on pupae of other carabid beetles. The life history of these species will be described. (ii) granivory. Seed feeding is a relatively widespread feeding strategy in Carabidae, being widespread in Harpalini and Zabrini. The preferences for seeds and the importance of seeds in the life cycle of selected species will be reported. (iii) thermal effects on both activity and development. Temperature is the key environmental factor that affects the life of ectothermic organisms. How temperature affects carabid development, their activity in the field and how these effects can be determined and quantified will also be shown.
