Multiple scattering, a review, modern trends and some new thoughts
Lieu : IRMAR, salle 6 bâtiment 22, campus de Beaulieu, UR1
Présentation :
The classical theory of multiple scattering goes back many decades to the work of Foldy in 1945. Much progress has been made since
then and there has been a renewed interest over the last decade. In this talk we will first discuss some historical results and compare the
efficacy of these results with known solutions and bounding methods in specific parameter regimes. After this we will go on to discuss current
work in the area, focusing on multiple scattering problems in a variety of application areas including waves on inhomogeneous strings, waves in
acoustic ducts, flexural waves in heterogeneous thin plates and waves in pre-stressed nonlinear heterogeneous media.
